Archbishop of Canterbury

"Britain is now a "post-Christian" country, the former archbishop of Canterbury has declared, as research suggests that the majority of Anglicans and Roman Catholics now feel afraid to express their beliefs ... While the country is not populated exclusively by atheists, the former archbishop warns that the era of regular and widespread worship is over ... His stark assessment comes after David Cameron ignited a national debate over the place of religion in British public life. The Prime Minister urged Christians to be "more evangelical" about their faith and claimed that Britain should be a more confidently Christian country." -- Tim Ross, Cole Moreton and James Kirkup (The Telegraph)

We are listening!

A parable is a kind of story. Ask yourself, "Does my story matter?"

People endlessly search for their true identity. Ask yourself, "Who am I?"

Jesus taught in parables. In the forty or so parables, Jesus used types like rich man, tax collector, etc. And yet Jesus spoke of only one man with a name in all the parables. His name is Lazarus and in Hebrew it means "God Is My Help!"

Our place of religion in our lifestyle is for God "TO BE" (i.e. Identity) above all else! Scriptures say, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them? God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM'; and He said, 'Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you'" (Exodus 3:13-14).

Religion is the belief in a personal God. Ask yourself, "When's the last time I thought about how God feels today?"

Identity

IDENTITY

We embrace the notion that God's church does not exist for itself.

Ask yourself, "When is the last time I put God in a box? Why did I let Him out just so He could fix my problems? What was I thinking?" Scriptures say, "You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures" (James 4:3).

On the contrary we exist for God! Because all people deserve dignity and all were created in the image of God as the Bible tells us, we think it best to talk with people. How do you feel when people talk at you?

Above all else The Higher Place spiritually represents The Kingdom of God, a place that is intangible -- ineffable. This place is hidden within our heart of hearts. Scriptures say, "Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life" (Proverbs 4:23).

We risk through shared sacrifice for one another to know Jesus intimately. Intimacy means to be fully known. Scriptures say, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalms 37:4).

We are growing in community by orienting ourselves around IDENTITY, family, mission, and sacrifice so that the gospel spreads in and through our community.
