The Higher Place in Community

This is a place of community where anyone can find friendship, support and empowerment. We love reaching out and serving our local community. As a church, we run a number of different initiatives that are making a positive impact both in our local community and around the world.

• Mental Health Support Programme

  We are passionate about supporting the vulnerable people in our community—people who are hurting, people who are oppressed, people who are abused, or people who simply just need somebody to talk to. This is why we run The Higher Place Mental Health Support Programme offering free access to qualified counsellors, resources and guidance to help individuals with their mental health, promote wellbeing, and build a supportive community as together, we aim to make The Higher Place a home for all.

• Foodbank Support Programme

  We have also been actively supporting local food banks to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. We collect food donations every quarter to support individuals and families in need within our community, especially those directly affected by the cost of living crisis.

• Missions and Medical Outreaches

  Our Sponsor a Child campaign gives members of our community the opportunity to adopt underprivileged children and provide them with access to education, healthcare, and improved living conditions through their generous support. We also have the annual mission trip doubling as a medical outreach where we partner with local churches in different parts of the world to spread the love of Jesus.

Our Impact

We have partnered with a local food bank called ‘New Leaf’ to deliver over 200 food parcels to those in need within our community. This partnership has helped us to support many vulnerable families and individuals experiencing hardships.

Mental health is one of the biggest challenges in our community, and this is an area that we are very passionate about as a charity. Our partnership with Oasis Counselling Services and the Sane Mind UK (who is our in-house professional counsellor) has helped us to reach people with mental health challenges far and wide. We have delivered a total of 360 hours of free professional counselling so far. During 2020 and 2021, our Mental Health Support programme impacted the lives of over 60 people.

We have also organised various fundraising activities such as the Christmas Fun Race and Go Karting to raise funds for other local charities to support their works. Our work with the Maypole Project involves providing vital support to children and young people with serious medical conditions and their families. We also partner with Royal Diadem Empowerment Network to reach out to nations and affect people positively through books, conferences, social welfare and capacity building, and our partnership has impacted over 20,000 people.
